L’Chaim - Nazdarovya!
“In Odessa we closed the shutters when my grandfather lit the Menorah. Now, we celebrate in public, both indoors and outdoors”, said Rima Mazurovsky about the series of Chanukah events by Project Neshama – Chabad Lubavitch of Brighton Beach and Manhattan Beach.
On the second night of Chanukah, Project Neshama - Chabad Lubavitch hosted a lavish Chanukah Gala – Celebrating Jewish Pride at the OPM Hall. The luxurious lounge was overflowing with delicacies, including salads, sushi, pastries, and, of course, an open bar with drinks for every taste. The attendees were mostly young Russian-American Jewish professionals from the Manhattan Beach and Brighton Beach communities. Guests stayed well into the evening dining, talking to friends, and enjoying the beauty of the holiday.
Hundreds of Children and their parents participated on Sunday by the Grand Chanukah Carnival, consisting of Chanukah themed booths, at the Seabreeze Jewish Center. Volunteers from the Chabad C-Teen Program ran the booths. The event was organized by Reb. Esther Winner. “We want the children to feel that Chanukah speaks to them in their language and make the Jewish experience a part of their life”, said Rabbi Zushe Winner, Director of Chabad Lubavitch of Brighton Beach.
Sunday evening hundreds joined Chabad for the Grand Menorah lighting at the Holocaust Park in Manhattan Beach. “Communism couldn’t extinguish the light – the Jewish Menorah inside us. The flame of our Jewish Pride, Jewish Tradition and Jewish Faith must illuminate our lives,” said Rabbi Avrohom Winner, director of Chabad Lubavitch of Manhattan Beach.
Tuesday evening the seventh night of Chanukah, Rabbi Moshe D. Winner and Rabbi Shimon Silver led the Public Menorah Lighting of the Brighton Beach Menorah at the Hennessey Triangle on Ocean Parkway and the boardwalk.
